Microsoft Project Alternative - Open Workbench

Open Workbench is project management software, a free, mostly open source alternative to Microsoft Project. It is the successor to Niku's Project Workbench. Currently, Open Workbench only runs under Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 2003,and Vista and requires Sun JRE version 1.3.1 or later. Although it is provided as free software, users still require the Clarity suite if they want to use a central database to manage enterprise collaboration. With Clarity's Schedule Connect module, it can specifically link to many PCs with Open Workbench 1.1 installed. The module installs on both centralized server and the desktops, adding database access to Open Workbench’s screens.

Fuel have been hike up by 41% , but our PM cut his allowances( not the salary ) around 10% from RM 18,865 (per-month) ...

He should cut more than 41% to show how much he care about this country and the rakyat's , does he care about it ? I think not...rumors said the price will be hike up again....then we sleep at the office after this for saving the money...

Yeah... thanks again BN for the fuel hike . I already told in my previous post in December 2007 , the price will be in range 2.70-2.90. Haha.. thats the prize for us, , the governments can't do nothing , because the don't know the best way how to manage the money , they only know on how to spend the money, so , if they don't have the money what they will do ? Yeah... the people like us will be the victim ... after this fuel hike , the electrical tariff rate will be up also , do they care ? they really don't care about the 'rakyat' anymore , they wont listen to us anymore , go to hell. At last... we will move out to our new office in Cyberjaya after a few delays in construction. I have visited there and I'm very happy about it. I hope this year is better than previous year in company performances... Introducing Windows Vista Service Pack 1

In addition to regular Windows Vista updates, application compatibility improvements, and device driver improvements, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is another way Microsoft will deliver improvements to the Windows Vista customer experience.
The goal of Windows Vista SP1 is to address key feedback Microsoft has received from its customers without regressing application compatibility. Windows Vista SP1 will deliver improvements and enhancements to existing features that significantly impact customers, but it does not deliver substantial new operating system features. For example, the service pack improves the performance of the desktop shell, but it does not provide a new search user interface or a new version of Windows® Media Center. The updates in Windows Vista SP1 fall into three categories, which the following sections describe in detail:

The following sections describe many of the security, reliability, and performance improvements that will be in Windows Vista SP1.
Security
Security improvements that will be in Windows Vista SP1 include:
# Provides security software vendors a more secure way to communicate with Windows Security Center.

Includes application programming interfaces (APIs) by which third-party security and malicious software detection applications can work with kernel patch protection on x64 versions of Windows Vista. These APIs help ISVs develop software that extends the functionality of the Windows kernel on x64 computers without disabling or weakening the protection offered by kernel patch protection.
# Improves the security of running RemoteApp programs and desktops by allowing Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) files to be signed. Customers can differentiate user experiences based on publisher identity.
# Adds an Elliptical Curve Cryptography (ECC) pseudo-random number generator (PRNG) to the list of available PRNGs in Windows Vista.
# Enhances BitLocker Drive Encryption (BDE) to offer an additional multifactor authentication method that combines a key protected by the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) with a Startup key stored on a USB storage device and a user-generated personal identification number (PIN).

Reliability

Windows Vista SP1 will include improvements that target some of the most common causes of crashes and hangs, giving users a more consistent experience. Many of these improvements will specifically address issues identified from the Windows Error Reporting tool. The following list describes some of the reliability improvements that Windows Vista SP1 will include:
# Improved reliability and compatibility of Windows Vista when used with newer graphics cards in several specific scenarios and configurations.
# Improved reliability when working with external displays on a laptop.
# Improved Windows Vista reliability in networking configuration scenarios.
# Improved reliability of systems that were upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
# Increased compatibility with many printer drivers.
# Increased reliability and performance of Windows Vista when entering sleep and resuming from sleep.
Performance
The following list describes some of the performance improvements that Windows Vista SP1 will include:
# Improves the speed of copying and extracting files.
# Improves the time to become active from Hibernate and Resume modes.
# Improves the performance of domain-joined PCs when operating off the domain; in the current release version of Windows Vista, users would experience long delays when opening the File dialog box.
# Improves performance of Windows® Internet Explorer® 7 in Windows Vista, reducing CPU utilization and speeding JavaScript parsing.
# Improves battery life by reducing CPU utilization by not redrawing the screen as frequently, on certain computers.
# Improves the logon experience by removing the occasional 10-second delay between pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL and the password prompt displaying.
# Addresses an issue in the current version of Windows Vista that makes browsing network file shares consume significant bandwidth and not perform as fast as expected.

Administration Experience

Many of the changes in Windows Vista SP1 will improve the deployment, management, and support experience for Windows Vista customers. The following list describes some of these enhancements:
# BitLocker Drive Encryption encrypts extra local volumes. For example, instead of encrypting only drive C, customers can also encrypt drive D, E, and so on.
# Addresses problems with printing to local printers from a Windows® Terminal Services session.
# The Network Diagnostics tool will help customers solve the most common file sharing problems, in addition to the basic problems that it already diagnoses.
# Administrators can control the volumes on which to run Disk Defragmenter.
In addition to these changes, Windows Vista SP1 will change the tools that customers use to manage Group Policy. Administrators requested features in Group Policy that simplify policy management. To do this, the service pack will uninstall the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) and GPEdit.msc will edit local Group Policy by default. In the SP1 timeframe, administrators can download an out-of-band release that will give them the ability to add comments to Group Policy Objects (GPOs) or individual settings and search for specific settings

Emerging Hardware and Standards

The technology industry is fast-paced and constantly changing. Throughout the life cycle of any version of the Windows operating system, the industry creates new hardware innovations and defines new standards. Windows Vista SP1 will include support for some of these new hardware innovations and standards, because Microsoft expects them to become increasingly important in the near future. The following list describes some of the enhancements of Windows Vista SP1 that will support these emerging innovations and standards:
# In the future, flash memory storage and consumer devices will use the exFAT file system. Windows Vista SP1 adds support for this file system to Windows Vista.
# The service pack will include support for Secure Digital (SD) Advanced Direct Memory Access (DMA), which will be on compliant SD host controllers soon, to improve transfer performance and decrease CPU utilization.
# x64 PCs can boot using the EFI. Windows Vista currently supports network boot by using Windows Deployment Services for x86, a PC’s basic input/output system (BIOS) for x64 PCs, and EFI for IA-64 PCs. Windows Vista SP1 will add support for network boot by using x64 EFI.
# The service pack will add support for Direct3D 10.1, adding application programming interfaces (APIs)
and features that enable 3-D applications, so game developers can better take advantage of a new generation of Direct3D graphics hardware.
# The Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) is a remote access tunneling protocol that will be part of the Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) platform. This protocol helps provide full-network virtual private network (VPN) remote access connections without challenges that other protocols face when traversing NATs, Web proxies, and firewalls. Windows Vista SP1 will include support for SSTP.

KL the wireless online metropolitan

WITH the launch of the Kuala Lumpur wireless metropolitan project at the City Hall headquarters yesterday, the entire capital city will be covered by a wireless broadband access network in the near future.

This means that if you are in KL, you will not need to patronize certain cafes or pay for Internet services to go wireless.

Everyone in the city will be able to use the service, which runs at 512kb per second, for free over the next two years.

The project was jointly launched by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique and KL Mayor Datuk Ab Hakim Borhan.

The city-wide project involves the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Synapse Technologies Sdn Bhd and Packet One Networks (M) Sdn Bhd.

It involves two parts. The first is to make the city wireless with the collaboration of Packet One Networks while the second part is to have the city's own portal www.kul.com.my managed by Synapse Technologies.

EZNet 1315

EZNET 1315 is a TM services same as 1515 connection but the only different between those two are 1515 you need to have a username and password for it but for EZNET 1315 no username or password required.

So do you think it’s easy? Of course but the charges are different in term of 4 cent per minutes and it will be charge at your phone bill.

I need to use this EZNET since my Streamyx was down last night and badly many urgent tasks need to be completed within one night... anyway luckily we have an alternative since my notebook have old type of modem built-in .. huh....

How the bill after this...? We see it later.. i heard it is a bit pricey....

I was surfing on the internet when i hard that the news on TV said that the government already in victory because they have achieved more than 50% of the total majority, so the SPR announced that the current governments will still have the authority to rule Malaysia. . This week I'm really wont buy any newspapers , Why ? No news... all about government manifesto, nearly 70% of the news were related to the politics. Politics are really dirty , bad , corrupt , kickbacks and lots of bribes and so on.

Where are the opposition manifesto on the media ? Why we should ban them ? Lets them shout and tell the truth, why we need to afraid them ?

My 2nd baby boy was born on Friday , 15 February 2008 , 7.35 am at the Hospital Pakar An-Nur. His name-to-be will be Ahmad Wajdi Al Khair , the pattern of his name will be similar his brother who is Ahmad Mus'ab Al-Khair . His weight is 2.85 kg with a height of 50 cm . The due date actually is on the 5th Mac 2008 , but...only god knows..he was born 3 weeks earlier at the 37 weeks of pregnancy.

i know im too cute...

7. BPM

When i try to login today , suddenly if this screen will appear ... means you have been banned...!

Actually i already know that i will be banned but this time the ban progress is much faster than before. Previously , it takes around to 4 months for you to be banned , but if we refer to this report

reported for AFK-ing more than 15 minutes

The reporter made the report on 1st December 2007 and today 28 January 2007 i have been banned from playing in the server for 60 days ! Because i AFK for 15 min in the game. Actually it is more than 15 min , i went to KLIA to pickup my father in law .

Maybe I should disconnect the game soon , but the results will be the same , that you however will have possibility being banned inside the server

Anyway what i most concerned is not the account . It is about my ARANK level. Currently I'm in the top list in the server with 102 game and my rank is 15. So , this account will be rest in 2 moths (60 days) according to the statement

Anyway i can use my other id the 1cesk7ter , but the rank is still low at the level 2 . Anyway the admin done the job pretty well...

We should protests about the hike , but maybe in other way . Once you get caught then if you are the government servant or in private sector , you are really in big trouble.

I have read an announcement that the Netscape browser will be in the end. There will be no more Netscape product after Feb 2008. This totally a big loss to the world of internet , since Netscape is the first company who connecting all the people around the globe with the internet and made us a good browsers before the IE was born.... :)

Any way , Firefox , the ancestor of the Netscape and will continue the development in the future.
For a long time i never use the IE , since i found Mozilla browsers and Firefox. Anyway , there are lots of website now are fully supported the Firefox rendering mode and most important thing is the security layer behind it . So , we should support the open source community for making our life smarter , faster and more secure....

New Proton Saga (BLM) 1.3cc

I just want to fill-up my car at the Petronas Bangi , when i saw lots of people surrounding the area at the Proton Edar beside it. And for sure it is because of the new Proton Saga. So i decided to visit it after I finished up fueling up my car .

As we know , there are much different when we see this model. Its look like Savvy at front and the Hyundai Accent at the behind. There are 2 colors that i spotted there . The red and dark grey . Most people are trying to test drive it , some of them sit inside the car , touching everything , talking to each others and some of them maybe are ready for booking !

For my 2 cents of comments , i think this model are better from the previous model. What do you aspect from it for the price of minimal RM31,500 ? Yeah... nothing need to be "waaahhh" about because it is just a new good looking car and good for the one who want buy for their 2nd car or who just got a new job. You will get a larger space then Kancil and its is 1.3 cc !

So , anyway , its a good starts for Proton to have " value for money " version of car , after they launched not too long ago the Proton Persona. Hopefully they will make some improvement for this model in the future... and not once in 23 years... !

I just found a new way for the lazy person like me...the best practices to get the notes is by imaging it directly when in classes. Make sure the tutor doesn't know how you doing it.
A person like me always forget , missing all notes that have jot down in the papers...
So better for me to take it via my camera-phone ...it is easy , faster and secure.... am i right ?

I just read the Dota All Stars forum. Seems that the RGB aka LazyFiend will be release a new DOTA AI version soon. Might be 6.48 version with the new heroes. This is the longest waiting for me to test the difficulty of the new AI , I hope the new one will have much more stability , less crash and the most i like the level of bot's AI will be much better with new ganking and killing techniques.... good for us to train and applied in the real battle .

General Car Seat Safety Tips

All children under 12 years of age should be placed in the back seat of the car, especially if you have passenger side air bags.

Infants should be in a rear facing infant only seat or convertible seat until they are 1 year old and twenty pounds. Children who reach twenty pounds before their first birthday still need to face backwards and can be moved into a rear facing convertible seat.

After they are twenty pounds and have passed their first birthday, toddlers can use a forward facing car seat until they are about 40 pounds or their ears have reached the top of the car seat.

Children over forty pounds should be placed into a belt positioning booster seat.

You should not use your car's regular seat belts until they fit correctly when your child is about 80 pounds and is 4ft 9 inches tall.

Your child will not be ready to use regular seat belts until the shoulder strap fits across his shoulder and not his neck, and the lap belt fits across his hips and not his stomach.

Be sure to read the car seat manufacture's instructions and your car owner's manual to be sure that you are installing and using the car seat correctly.

Nothing to do today , so i decided to do some hard task .... wash & polish my car and bike. Yeaa.. its really tiring job...but its really fun....

Wash

Choose the right soap for washing the car.
Never wash a car in direct sunlight or while the motor is still hot.
Hose any excess dirt from the car exterior.
Use a soft sponge or terrycloth towel to lather the car, starting with the roof. When the roof has been cleaned, rinse the soap off completely. Repeat this process with each side of the car, including windows, tires, etc., doing one side at a time. Washing one side of the car at a time will prevent soap from drying on the car before it is completely washed.
After all sides have been washed and rinsed, rinse the entire car, beginning with the roof.
Using a soft dry towel, dry the car thoroughly, starting again with the roof and doing all four sides one at a time.
Using another towel, wipe all chrome and metal until water spots are removed.
Clean windows inside and outside

Polish

Always choose a shady area to polish a car. This helps prevent streaking.
Only work on one small section of the car at a time.
Use a soft terrycloth towel or specially-purchased cloth to apply the polish.
Apply polish with a circular motion. Then allow polish to dry to a haze.
Using another dry towel or cloth of the same type, buff the polish.

Malaysia will be bankrupt if government reduces oil prices, says Najib
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today that the country will become bankrupt if the government reduces oil prices.

“Throughout the world oil prices are rising, it’s not possible for the opposition to bring fuel prices down. It simply does not make sense ... they (opposition) are just trying to make fools of the people of Sabah.

He was speaking to reporters when opening the Tamu Besar Cultural Festival here today.

As such, Najib urged Sabahans not to be influenced by empty promises made by the opposition that if they were voted in to form the new government after the upcoming general election, they would reduce fuel prices.

In November, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended several political ceramahs (talks) in Sabah and had pledged to reduce fuel prices if the party was returned in the election.
He said the issue of oil prices needed to be managed wisely to ensure the BN government could carry out various development projects that had already been planned.

“With the oil revenue we have, we can build univeristies, hotels and carry out other development projects, all of which make Malasyia a progressive nation,” he said.

Najib also reminded the people to avoid participating in street demonstrations in trying to air their grouses to the government.

“Its not our culture. Our culture is consensus building so that everyone benefits. This is the culture the BN has practised all along,” he said.

At the function, Najib also announced that the federal government had approved the construction of a new district hospital for Tuaran which would cost some RM120 million.

The price will be in the range RM 2.70 - RM 2.90 per liter next year..... so...still " x apa ? " and '" we are still the lowest price if we compare from other countries " . I don't know how they do the math.. you will see the price hike after the GE 2008...

Something terrible happened end to me last night... my mammoth hard drive with 320GB was crashed. I don't know why ..but i assume all this happed because of the heat factor. My cooling fan under the hard drive was malfunctions...and it increase the temperature of my hard drive...i didn't notice if for so long...and my PC was running 24-7 every day....

So..i feel a bit disappointed and a bit sad and ....all my movies work for a few years..lost in in one single day...i try to revive it using the hard disk utility but i hard to recover because of lots of bad sector was generated inside the drive... Nothing that i can do...anyway...its time for me to restart to re-download everything...

Now i need to send my hard drive to the Western digital back for claiming the warranty....

Moral of the story...

If you hard drive if SATA based type make sure the temperature of the hard drive was cool enough ..or it will damage the magnetic base inside the drive.. or buy the hard drive which has the anti-vibration mechanism and good head parking technology....

Any suggestion which one is the best ?

I’ve been using Delphi exclusively for 11 years now. When you look at the innards of Delphi (and you can, since Delphi is written in Delphi) you can see the beautiful design of the tool. Fully extensible. A fantastic class hierarchy with over 450 object that can be customized practically at will. Hell, when Microsoft comes out with a new technology, Delphi is the first tool to support it. When Microsoft comes out with a new operating system, Delphi is the first to support its new features. At the time of this writing, Delphi is the only tool that supports Vista . Even today, Delphi 1 projects can be opened in Delphi 7 and recompiled without any re-writing or fixing. I’ve grown to love Pascal too. Pascal, being a strongly typed language makes for better more structured code. Object Pascal was created for Delphi. These guys did a fantastic job of it too ! If you want to write good code and you want to understand the Object Oriented concepts. This is the tool for you. If you want to understand the operating system, this is the tool for you. With Delphi you don’t HAVE to get your hands dirty. But you can when you want to. One makes Win API calls just like any other function in Delphi. But besides all this… It’s the one tool that has the power of C++ and the ease of VB. You do everything in one environment in the same way as you know how. Such as:

1. Programming GUI Applications or Server applications.
2. Objects, Components or Wizards.
3. EXEs, DLLs, be it native or COM/DCOM or even OBJ files.
4. ISAPI/NSAPI/CGI Applications.
5. N-Tiered application using COM/DCOM or your own framework.

I have yet to find something that Delphi can’t do and believe you me, I push the tool to the limits. But it seems to just expand to accommodate my needs. Give me something I can’t do in Delphi. And I promise I’ll use ONLY Delphi…. In what tool can you :

1.Make a fully functional 3 tiered DCOM application without writing a single line of code?
2.Make a fully functional 3 tiered CORBA application without writing a single line of code?

4.Make zero configuration thin clients. No OCXs to register, just ONE exe file. That’s it.
5.Make NT services and service applications ?
6.Convert a fully functional application into an ActiveX document with the flick of a menu option ?
7.Convert a whole form with all it’s components and event code into a component without writing a single line of code ?
8.Access databases on an AS400 as if they were local database or data residing on an RDBMS ?
9. Access SAP R/3 just like any other system with full access to IDOCS/ RFC and tables ?
10. Make ISAPI / NSAPI /Win CGI applications without writing a single line of code ?
Or start out making a CGI application and switch it to an ISAPI application without having to change your code? The list can go on.

The future route-map

The KL-Putrajaya Highway will have the shortest direct link between the commercial centre of KL, the federal administrative centre of Putrajaya, the Multimedia Super Corridor of Cyberjaya and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at Sepang reducing the journey time from about 1 hour to approximately 30++ minutes. Given its strategic linkage, this Highway is aptly referred to as "The Gateway to the Nation".

The KL-Putrajaya Highway is designed on a regional connectivity concept linking the Middle Ring Road 1 at Jalan Tun Razak and the Middle Ring Road 2 at Kesas Highway. It is also a traffic dispersal link to relieve traffic congestion along the KL-Seremban Highway at Jalan Tun Razak.

Effective 3rd December 2007, TM will block SMTP traffic or Port 25 for all out going emails from dynamic IP addresses.

Only outbound SMTP traffic from smtp.streamyx.com and smtp.tm.net.my will be allowed.

For who have their own email server, emails cannot be sent from now on unless they using the open relay server.: smtp-proxy.tm.net.my

Why they do that ?

Easy to Trace the spammer ?
Are the relay server powerful enough to serve all the Streamyx users ?
How about if the relay server are down every months ?
Do they inform us before proceed with this ? 1 months before ?
This will troubling the system admin for hours to tell the clients why their e-mail servers are no longer accessible.

Previously , i have spend all my money for the computer magazines . And...it's sucks ! Why ? The computer magazine cost me RM 10 in each months. But after i found new magazine i think i can get it twice the...but not for computer magazine...and it is... UJANG and APO! Why i buy this magazine ? It is because one day found some of the article inside the computer magazine was copycat directly from the website. So, better i read it from the internet rather i buy it from the bookstore...so , thats it. Stop ! no more computer magazine...subscribe yourself to some blogs or website and you will get it for free...and updated daily....no need to spend your money...
But UJANG and APO really a hilarious magazine..feeling happy when read it...sure you will laugh when read it... so ,try to buy it.... i have bought all the series it for nearly 3 years......it will come out twiice a months...and cost your RM 4.50 each.....enjoy ! I like to read it back especially the previous year series...because some of the comedy you will laughing back even you know what gonna be happened ..it still can be read...and can be enjoyed... the computer magazine ? Ahh... it was obsolete already.... you'll never read the old news... Google it better....

How to CTRL + ALT + DELETE via remote desktop ?

i wanted to change the admin password on my web server through remote desktop, but Ctrl-Alt-Delete always goes to the local computer.

i found out you can also use Ctrl-Alt-End to achieve the same thing, which works in remote desktop.

Hitachi develops new hard drive head technology that will increase storage capacity to 4TB by 2011

Hitachi recently announced that it has achieved a breakthrough in hard drive read-head design.

This breakthrough has produced read-heads in the 30-50 nanometer range, approximately 2,000 times smaller than the width of an average human hair. This new technology is called current perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistive heads.

Giant magnetoresistance principles won scientists Albert Fert and Peter Grunberg the 2007 Nobel Prize for Physics.

These new heads will allow Hitachi to expand storage capacity in standard 3.5-inch desktop hard drives to 4TB and extend 2.5-inch laptop hard drives to 1TB of capacity. Hitachi says that it plans to integrate these new heads into hard drives starting in 2009 and that the technology will reach maturity in 2011.

The first products to reach market in 2009 will use recording heads of 50nm and products with recording heads of 30nm will hit market in 2011. Hitachi representatives believe the new heads will allow for storage densities of up to 500GB per square inch. The current highest capacity drives from Hitachi can only pack in 200GB per square inch.

Another benefit of the significantly smaller heads is that the hard drives will product less noise. Test products using 50nm heads produced 40dB of sound while the 30nm heads produced 30dB. Large capacity hard drives that produce less noise will be a welcome addition to digital video recorders.

New Toy

I just received new toy for us to experiment for. But this isn't an ordinary toy. It is a 3G network scanner ! Kinda fun to play with heh....

This scanner is really pricey. Was made in USA and helps us to do some drive test and measurement. We need to do some software development to interact with the scanner using the API given.

Ashido reveals something of his past and Nel is in a bit of trouble.

I think the introduction of the adjuchas hollow is pretty nice. Really like that, something we haven't seen yet, could be interesting to see how strong their leader is. I also wonder how strong that Ashida is, he looks pretty strong but i really doubt that he has mastered bankai.
